Sorry for my lateness of submitting stuff this month, first off ^^; I blame my feverish work on Christmas gifts, staff and birthday parties, and so on o.o But yes. Those of you who watch my webcomic: [link] will recall I posted this as a birthday filler update 8D Everyone else... YAY NEW ART. *hit*

But yeah, this was one of those late night ideas that sprung into mind, just before I fell asleep, thus was forced to get up and write it down (which is why I need a notepad on my bedstand, amirite D: *dies*) It was a great idea, both for Colour concept work, and practicing with some more dynamic angles, via back and foreground. So to speak :P

Onto the scene: this is Stanley and Darlene Warthogg, at the birth of their first child and eldest son, Dara (see teh widdle bebe? :D Isn't he cute ;; <3 *pokesquish*). As Darlene's expression and Stanley leaving the room indicates, this supposedly would be happy event is... not very much so D: Stanley, being the wonderful asshole that he is, is to blame >>

Now let's elaborate on some facts that lead up to this scene: Darlene was raised in a convent type place, so to speak. Basically, young girls raised by older women, until they are old enough to be taken for marriage. Shortly after Darlene turned nineteen, Stanley, who was twenty-three, just so happened to be in the mind to take a wife.

Darlene found Stanley pleasing at first; he SEEMED kind and SEEMED like he would prove a good husband, and eventual father. But that's the beauty of it; Stanley only APPEARED these things at first :| It wasn't until Darlene accepted his proposal and they were married, that he started showing his true colours.

The first year of marriage wasn't all that bad... he only showed his gruffer side on random instances, when Darlene voiced her opinion in a way that made him irritated at her for being "too bold" for her place. It startled her a little... but she passed it off as paranoia, and resigned to her husband's will.

She soon became pregnant with their first child. Stanley didn't act very outwardly joyous about it, but again, Darlene dismissed it as a whim, thinking, surely he would show more interest once their child was born. And when she gave birth to a healthy boy, she was convinced that he would be proud to be the father of a son.

But this scene here is how he reacts: very dismissively bland about it. I figure, the doctor would tell him he could see his wife and child, and he would go in, perfectly normal like, take a look at Dara and Darlene, give some sort of grunt or throat noise... and then leave :O "Oh, so you're fine. Oh, it's boy. Well, that's nice, kthanxbai |:" Hence this illustration: Stanley's wordless exit.

And of course, Darlene is left there, stunned and heartbroken. I actually wrote a short scene on this, so here, have at it |D *gives poor Darlene and wee Dara lots of luff and huggles ;o;*

Darlene stared after him, barely able to contain herself. "...Stanley?"
But her voice was weak, and her husband's retreating figure did not seem to hear it.
The new mother couldn't even begin to comprehend what had just occured. Her husband's response to their child, their firstborn son, had been so... cold.
Did he not care? Was he not proud? Wasn't the baby beautiful? Didn't he want to hold him? Didn't any of this mean anything at all??
This most treasured moment of her life, had all but shattered, ending with Darlene choking back tears of distress. How could she have known?
What had started as a simple nagging in the back of her mind, was now a stunning revelation of truth: Stanley was not the person she had first thought he was.

Dang.... Is it me or did Stanley care more for Graff's birth than Dara's? Then again, he was never "Yayy a better son!" Cotton Hill-like with Graff either. :P

I totally feel the emotion here. ^^; Sorry for the late comment.
