Casey + Topaz - Uncertainty

(As you can see, I'm mananging well on keeping up to a better prefur art quota this year so far |D Also trying to keep it a bit spaced out as well... don't want to seem -too- repetitive 8| Also, using different characters each time for variety helps~)

Funny how I ended up choosing these two for said theme I actually went into the Pregfur folder of my gallery, and literally took count of how many times I'd drawn each female/couple in said theme, to see who had the most/least amount of times :'D Casey (the hyena/warthog hybrid) and Topaz (the cat) here were one of the least amounts so... THEIR TURN! Last time I drew them was 2006... SOUNDS ABOUT TIME TO ME D: *dies*

But okay, let's get more serious here Another reason I wanted to use them is -because- the situation is a little more serious, and not so fluffy/cutesy. Some things to be mentioned: at the time Casey and Topaz discover that she's pregnant, their situation is well, less than ideal for the prospect of having a baby :C

1) They're not married (this isn't -such- a big deal, but considering -they- were both born out of wedlock, it probably hits a little close to home... Mind you, at least they're not teenagers; they're mid-late 20s)

2) Their living quarters are shared and not exactly kid-friendly (quarters being shared with Casey's brothers Tyson and Kuger, plus Kuger's sexual partner Tegan, so... yeah, not exactly the most kid-friendly people D| Nor particularly good role models or babysitters...)

3) They're in the middle of war, so to speak (now this I still have to work on XD; Plot wise. But they're like, apart of this rebel/group thing that tries to attack/make trouble for the bad guys. Hence, staying in one place for too long can be dangerous, if they were followed/tracked down. And travelling is obviously difficult if kids are involved on top of it...)

And oh yeah. Topaz has MEGA mother issues Which is pretty well explained here: [link] To sum up, her mother never wanted her, and abandoned her at birth, to be raised by her father. They never have a chance to reconcile either, considering she dies a year after. So yeah... that has a huge personal scarring effect in Topaz's life ;;

Hence why when she finds out she's (possibly) going to be a mother, she freaks out... like, a LOT. Casey has his hands full just trying to calm her down and talk things out at first, assuring her the choice is hers to make, and he'll support her no matter what (since above all, he doesn't want to make her feel like her mother did; cornered and resentful). And after much talking, arguing, anguishing and screaming, a reluctant Topaz decides she wants to keep the baby.

Not that finalizing the choice makes for smooth sailing from there It's probably sufficient to say that Topaz spends most of her pregnancy feeling miserable, doubtful, anxious and irritable (hence the image title of "uncertainty"), wondering if she's made the right choice. It's not that she's a bad person or wanting to be rid of the problem; she's just suffering from a lot of personal issues (thanks to deadbeat mother). To be frank, she's scared. The whole thing is a huge side of vulnerability she's never experienced, and the enormity of it and what it means is frightening to her.

But yes. This picture is more or less her having one of those vulnerable spells, where she's worrying about one of the many things the situation presents, and Casey's just trying to be there for her, to listen or offer whatever words of assurance he thinks would help. (Another excuse for this image involving Casey? I decided to try making his spots bigger! Makes them more noticable and neat; I hope you guys like it :3) FYI: He's sitting on the floor next to the bed Topaz is sitting on, if it wasn't obvious XD Just so the levels/positions they're on/in don't confuse you~
