Both Ends Of The Conversation

One of the two things I managed to sketch/ink while I was visiting my hubby ~ZaneRedrald Usually when we see each other, we end up drawing each other stuff, and I decided to surprise him with a rather entertaining scene we did via RP when he was up here visiting me several months ago.

It's basically related to his comic/storyline canon (but may actually be subject to change when he properly gets to the point with his own polished script, so to speak) Redrald. Which is why Carla and Des'ree (bottom panel) look different (since he's using said ladies in his comic, with my blessing of course, hence gave them his own style/look tweaks), and why I refrained from giving all characters my usual style 'cheek poofness', since it's going off his story Hopefully that makes anywho.

Anywho, trying not to spoil tooo much of his stuff here, but I'll try to explain it the best I can For starters, Bradley/Carla are a firmly canon couple in his story, but Zane/Des'ree are only -semi- canon Why? Because they separate. It goes like this: they dated in their senior year of highschool (and we pretty awesome together) but were planning on going to different colleges. Zane was training to become a cop in a college near/in their area, whereas Des'ree was going for a big fancy program/degree that was in a school that required her to pretty much move to a whole other far away area for at least four years.

Knowing how they were as a couple at that point, Des'ree points out that it's better for them to break things off, so they can focus on their goals/futures, and not endure the strain of a long distance relationship. Not to say she wasn't tempted to stay with Zane/find something else D: (and I'm sure Zane would followed her if he had the money...) But in the end, they agreed to part on amicable terms. Which was all and well... on the outside :C But in reality, Des'ree consumed herself in her studies and couldn't even bring herself to have any kind of contact with Zane (for fear of breaking down and begging him to come get her and bring her back), and Zane was pretty much a silent, emotional wreck and couldn't even bring himself to be interested in other women for years.

Fast forward four years They've both recently graduated, Zane's finally just recently got at least a foot back into the dating game (and it abruptly ends on a weird note XD But at least he tried!), and his friend/roommate Bradley's about to get married to his long time girlfriend Carla, who's invited her cousin Des'ree to be her maid of honor/to come back home for the wedding. And when Des'ree arrives back in town for the first time in four years, the first stop she makes is to see the happy couple... and lo and behold, Zane and Des'ree find themselves face to face for the first time since they said goodbye. Awwkward 8|;

Well, let's just say Des'ree ends up staying the night at (Bradley's) house (at Zane and Carla's insistence), and she and Zane, sleepless that night, end up having this huuuge late night conversation about stuff they never really got the chance to get off their chests when they broke up... and how things felt about the whole situation over the last few years on both parts. They laugh'd, baww'd, angst'd, emo'd, and well... it was essentially something they'd been needing for years. And oh... led up to them having closure sex WAHAHAHAHAHA~

Enter the next morning |D (which is where this picture comes into play!) Bradley catches Zane heading out of the room that Des'ree was sleeping in, in his boxers, and Des'ree ends up having to explain the situation to Carla... needless to say, both Bradley and Carla are a bit... shocked/scandelized, to say the least "U DID WHAAA?!?" Not quite what they expected the two would do, considering how things went back in the day o.o

But yeah... these lines/scenes just struck me as the best ones to depict in unison (I have fun with shocked faces 8O). I RP'd Carla and Des'ree obviously, and Brandon RP'd Bradley and Zane (this scene was pretty funny, in that we were more or less having conversations with ourselves and reading what the other was up to at the same time ). I miss RPing with him D: We totally need to again soon... (then again, I do have a few other ones I could totally do fanart for sometime... but that's another story for another day! )
